This device is designed to show the swing and movement of the pendulum. The sand pendulum is suspended from the top with two ropes and there is a sand reservoir at the end. Two rope hanging from the top provides movement in three dimensions. The sand filled into the sand chamber creates a pattern below as soon as the pendulum is released, and when the pendulum passes through the same points, it repeats the same pattern. Figures and many different patterns are obtained in the lower tray.
